![]() ![]() So the lessor cant count on the $60,000 residual value to help recover its $479,079 investment. In that case, it is Sans Serif, not CompuDec, who will benefit by the residual value. Suppose Sans Serif will own the copier at the end of the lease termby transfer of title or by the expected exercise of a bargain purchase option. However, our discussion of the effect of a residual value would be precisely the same if our illustration were of a direct financing lease (for instance, if the lessors cost were $479,079) except that, of course, neither sales revenue nor cost of goods sold would be recorded in a direct financing lease. * This provision is to be consistent with Illustration 15-3 which described a sales-type lease. *ĬompuDecs interest rate for financing the transaction is 10%. At the end of the six-year lease term the copier is expected to be worth $60,000.ĬompuDec manufactured the copier at a cost of $300,000. The estimated useful life of the copier is seven years. The lease agreement specifies annual payments beginning December 31, 2006, the inception of the lease, and at each December 31 through 2011. On December 31, 2006, Sans Serif Publishers, Inc., leased a color copier from CompuDec Corporation at a price of $479,079. In deciding whether the residual value affects how the lease is recorded, the first question that influences the answer is Who gets the residual value? I LLUSTRATION 15-4 Well use modified Illustration 15-4 to see why. Should this influence the lessors (CompuDec) calculation of periodic rental payments? Other than the possible influence on rental payments, should the lessee (Sans Serif Publishers) be concerned with the residual value of the leased assets? The answer to both questions is maybe. Suppose the copier leased in Illustration 15-3 was expected to be worth $60,000 at the end of the six-year lease term. But now lets consider the economic effect of a leased asset that does have a residual value and how that will affect the way both the lessee and the lessor account for the lease agreement. ![]() In our previous examples of nonoperating leases, we assumed that the residual value was negligible. of leased property is an estimate of what its commercial value will be at the end of the lease term. If you work in a public space where silence is a priority or want to enjoy a silent keyboard experience, a mechanical keyboard with linear switches is a perfect option. They are low to medium and won’t draw unnecessary attention to yourself or cause any interference when you are working. While both linear and tactile switches are great options, a few factors must be considered before purchasing a keyboard with either type of switch.įrom the definitions, it is crystal clear that tactile switches create more noise than their quite linear counterparts. But does this mean you should get a mechanical keyboard with a high sound level? Unsurprisingly, many typists get satisfied with the noise from their clicky and tactile keyboards. The sound level of mechanical keyboard switches is associated with precision and accuracy. They tend to have the same actuation force and point level, giving off comparable – instant responses. Linear and tactile switches are both good choices regarding levels of actuation. The lesser the actuation force and point, the faster the responses. Essentially, the actuation point is how far a key should be pressed down to be registered, while actuation force is the amount of pressure you need to put onto a key to actuate. Actuation Point and Actuation ForceĪctuation is a key consideration when looking for a gaming or typing switch. Here are some of the factors to consider before selecting a certain type of switch: 1. When getting a mechanical keyboard, choose the one with switches that deliver the best typing or gaming experience. Things to Consider When Looking for a Switch ![]() That said, they can be for you if you work from home or have a dedicated space without too close proximity to others. Most typists prefer these noisy and bumpy switches because they increase accuracy. It is crystal clear that clicky switches are the loudest in the mechanical keyboard range. As such, it can irritate or distract those around you if you work in a public space. While this can be very satisfying during gameplay, the loud, clicky sound is a double-edged sword. The sounds of clicky switches help you type accurately as you get the proper clicking sound whenever you click a key on the keyboard. They offer great feedback when typing, so you know everything is working properly from the awesome sounds. What are Clicky Switches?Īs the name suggests, these switches generate a clicky sound when clicked and activated. The exciting part is that they all offer great feedback when typing. There is a wide range of tactile switches to choose from. With little noise, you won’t attract unwanted attention to yourself. Tactile switches are fun to use, especially for people getting started with mechanical keyboards. Whether you work in an office or not, if typing is your thing, you will enjoy the great feedback associated with tactile switches. Tactile switches are fit for offices because of the more accurate clicks along with a good clicky feel. Some mechanical keyboard users consider the bumpy feeling and little oddly satisfying. ![]() Although noisier than linear switches, the little noise is sure not to cause any interference when you are working. In terms of audible clicks following keystrokes, tactile switches are relatively quiet. What Is a Mechanical Keyboard? Simple breakdown (vs regular keyboards) Tactile switches have a little bump and resistance to ensure you press the exact key, improving precision and increasing accuracy. Tactile switches are mechanical keyboard switches that have bumpy responsive feedback. Of significance, beginners need some time to adapt to using them. That’s why they are common among gamers seeking a competitive edge over their opponents. Overall, linear switches are an excellent option for people looking for fast responses from quiet switches. Because they give a buttery smooth linear feel, using your keyboard will be less tiring. ![]() This makes them a go-to switch for all scenarios where silence is a priority. Linear switches are amazing as they produce the least noise in the mechanical keyboard range. For programmers, getting a mechanical keyboard with linear switches makes a difference without tactile interference. The smoothness of linear switches allows enthusiastic gamers to achieve more precision in tough games. They are known for being very quiet, which is a perfect option for people who don’t want the loud noise associated with clicky switches. For this reason, they are an excellent option for gamers and typists who don’t like small bumps. Linear switches are mechanical keyboard switches focusing on smooth, consistent actuation without tactile feedback. One factor in particular-the structural knowledge of one’s language-has been linked to the efficiency with which the phonological memory system encodes information (e.g., Cheung, 1996 Harrington & Sawyer, 1992 Windsor, Kohnert, Lobitz, & Pham, 2010). However, there is remarkable variability in the population, with some individuals demonstrating high phonological memory capacity and others demonstrating low phonological memory capacity. The storage capacity of the phonological memory system is limited, and human beings can maintain only a few items in memory at any one time. This skill is imperative for performing complex linguistic tasks in both the native (L1) and the second (L2) language (e.g., Christoffels & de Groot, 2005), including auditory language comprehension (e.g., Smith, Mann, & Shankweiler, 1986) and written language processing (e.g., Daneman & Carpenter, 1980 Swanson & Berninger, 1995). Phonological memory is defined as the ability to maintain verbal information in memory for a brief period of time. Together, these results suggest that proficiency-based differences between monolingual and bilingual phonological memory performance depend on the degree to which the tasks rely on lexical-semantic knowledge and the difficulty level of the task. For the digit-span and nonword repetition tasks, monolinguals outperformed bilinguals at the easier levels of the tasks, but the differences between the two groups vanished with the increase in the difficulty levels. Results revealed that on the word-span task (highest level of lexical-semantic knowledge), monolinguals outperformed bilinguals at the easier levels of the task but bilinguals outperformed monolinguals at the more difficult levels of the task. We manipulated the degree to which the phonological memory tasks involved lexical-semantic knowledge of English (word-span task, digit-span task, and nonword repetition task), as well as the difficulty level of the tasks. All participants were tested on a range of phonological memory tasks in English. The monolingual English speakers were more proficient in English than the bilingual speakers. In the present study, we examined the effects of lexical-semantic knowledge and of difficulty level on phonological memory performance by monolingual adult English speakers and bilingual adult Korean–English speakers. ![]() ![]() There are probably more performant ways to go about this, but we wanted to show all available options when touching virtual objects. Instead of cutting into the subject, you simply crop away the uninteresting or distracting or blank wasted areas, giving due importance to the desired subject area, also with the result matching the intended paper shape. This is really easy to do, maybe only several seconds each after you get the hang of it, but it takes a human who cares about best result. The solution is that some human (meaning you, to be your choice) first processes each image to prepare it for printing, cropping its shape to match the desired paper shape (centering the scene as you choose) for the best fitting the important scene area into that cropped result. The odds are “few to none” that any picture can ignore needing this close attention (and the printing machines can’t look and don’t care). Camcorders vary, but their stills might be 16:9 or 4:3 shape. DSLR cameras are 3:2 aspect which at least does match 4圆 paper shape, but the compact and phone cameras are 4:3 aspect which doesn’t match anything. The print sizes 4圆, 5x7, 8x10 inches are three different shapes. The machine can’t look, and doesn’t care. This could mean cut-off heads and not centered and such. Meaning, their printing machine can handle resampling the SIZE, but if they are not the same SHAPE as the paper ( and they won’t be), then there will be some cut off areas that won’t fit on the paper shape. How do you prepare that? If you do nothing except simply just send them in, they will print them at specified size you ordered, but humans won’t see them first.
